Sandy Sanford became immersed in standards-based education in 1970 and began teaching in California public schools in 1989.
He has served as a classroom teacher, mentor teacher, site administrator, and district administrator of categorical programs, assessment, accountability, and research & evaluation.
In 2000 Sandy created a laboratory to develop better methods for gathering, analyzing, reporting and using assessment data to guide the instructional process in a standards-based educational environment. In 2001, he committed his data laboratory to direct support of the Riverside County Achievement Teams in California.
For the past five years Sandy has presented across the country with the US Department of Education’s Teacher-to-Teacher workshop program. Sandy actively participates as a team member in SAIT, DAIT, and other program improvement efforts.
Sandy provides consulting services in instruction, assessment, accountability, data analysis, trouble shooting, standards development, and more to schools, districts, and state agencies across the country.
Sandy holds master’s degrees in both education and systems management and a doctorate in education.
Carole Ferraud has worked in education since 1981 as both a teacher and administrator. Her education career has spanned K through 12, and her administrative experience includes site, district and county level positions. Her area of expertise has been in the field of curriculum and instruction; she has provided C&I support to multiple school districts, each experiencing significant increases in student achievement.
As the Regional Administrator for the Riverside County Office of Education, Carole was part of the inaugural team that developed Riverside County Achievement Team (RCAT) and served as the lead in the desert region. RCAT worked with low performing schools to identify barriers to student achievement and develop action plans to successfully address those barriers.
Carole opened a new middle school in the Desert Sands Unified School District (John Glenn Middle School of International Studies) and served as the principal at that school for three years. Under her leadership John Glenn Middle School became a fully authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) in July of 2004 and was recognized as a State and National “School to Watch”. John Glenn Middle School was recognized as a National Magnet School of Distinction and also earned prestigious recognition as a National AVID Demonstration School.
Carole served as the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services in Desert Sands Unified School District and in that role established a systemic process for increasing student achievement and a focus on building internal capacity. The district was able to make significant achievement gains at all levels including exiting multiple schools from Program Improvement.
In January of 2006, Carole was selected as the Superintendent of Bear Valley Unified School District (BVUSD). During her tenure in BVUSD, student achievement increased significantly to include four of seven schools reaching the state goal of 800 or better on the API, and all other schools close to the 800 goal. The district was not in Program Improvement or at risk of Program Improvement. A focus on building internal capacity and carefully monitoring contributed to increased student achievement.
Carole has been twice recognized as Administrator of the Year in Desert Sands Unified School District and was named Principal of the Year for Riverside County Office of Education. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Child Development and Master’s Degree in Education/Counseling.
